My underdrive performance pulley sucks the voltage down @ idle/red lights, but thats normal for underdrive pulleys. I might get rid of them soon. And anyone out there.. take autozone/murray/advanced auto/pepboys alternator test with a grain of salt.

Clean your throttle body, also check your idle control sensor. I had a 2000 2.5L ranger. Same problem. My throttle body was gummed up and it had a bad idle control sensor. Bad thing about that particular engine is that nothing is adjustable and it does not have VVT.

Another possibility is a bad alternator and a bad battery. The battery will charge but only at a fraction of what it should and won't hold In some cases, it becomes incapable of recharging the battery at idle or low rpm but will charge at higher rpm.

Took a few tries the car started up. It did this through out the day. Found on this forum rough idle cleaning the throttle etc... Did that and it cranked up, but the RPM read 900-1100rpm.
ok so I threw my battery on a charger for the last 5 hours, just put the battery in and started my car. my car started and in park the idle fluctuated up to 1500 and down to about 1100 rpms every so often, put my car into drive and it was rough then eventually died. any suggestions now?
This might be a possible cause for rough idle after a full ECM reset aka batt disconnect. This should only be temporary. Understanding how this works can prevent possible issues and misunderstandings in the future. The ECM monitors the intake air amount during idling and the ignition timing.
